I Have DD+ Breasts and This Is the Best Swimwear for Big Boobs I’ve Tried

Support meets style.

Finding the best swimwear for big boobs isn’t easy. As a member of the big boob club, I know that hunting for DD+ swimwear that comfortably fits both my boobs and my bum is a total disaster – and it’s just as exhausting trying to find options that actually look stylish.

As a woman in my late twenties, browsing the high street during summer feels like a recipe for heartbreak. I often find myself reaching for styles three sizes larger than my usual clothing size just to get enough coverage. Alternatively, I have to settle for skimpy string designs that can be tied to my frame. The result is often a painfully sore neck from thin straps doing all the heavy lifting.

For too long, the fashion industry has presented women with larger breasts with a frustrating ultimatum: wear flimsy triangle bikinis and hope nothing slips out, or choose overly structured designs that prioritise coverage over style. This design gap has a real impact on women. The pressure can feel even greater on social media, where influencers in itsy-bitsy bikinis are constantly plastered across our feeds. A recent campaign from Pour Moi and Ashley James, Designed For Me, Designed For Real Life, revealed that one in five British women over 30 have never felt confident, with only 7% saying they feel fully confident in swimwear.

Commenting on the campaign, which explores the challenges many women face around body confidence, motherhood and feeling supported in their own skin, Ashley James said: “I know confidence can look so different depending on what stage of life you’re in, and for so many women, it’s something we’re constantly rebuilding. I’ve always believed that we deserve to feel comfortable, supported and confident in our own skin.”

It’s a reality I’ve experienced myself and I refuse to keep sacrificing fashion for function. I want fuller bust swimwear that feels sexy, trend-led and wearable. After years of relying on zero-lift tops and living in constant fear of wardrobe malfunctions, I set out to find the best DD+ swimwear that delivers both fit and style.

Why Finding Swimwear for Big Boobs is So Difficult

The issue comes down to garment engineering. Most high-street brands scale up standard bikini patterns designed for smaller busts without adding proper internal structure. That means thin straps end up carrying the full weight of the bust. This places unnecessary strain on the neck and shoulders.

Then there’s the challenge of finding the right fit. Real body proportions vary widely, yet many brands still rely on S, M, L sizing rather than bra-sized swimwear. This then makes it difficult to achieve a proper fit if you have a smaller frame and fuller bust. Too often, you end up choosing between coverage and comfort – rarely both. This can result in painful friction and trapped moisture in the summer heat – something we cover in more detail in our guide to preventing under boob sweat.

The industry is slowly waking up to the fact that big-boob women deserve better. As Louisa Cronin, Head of Product, Design and Merchandising at Curvy Kate, explains: “For too long, women with larger cup sizes have been underserved by the fashion industry, often having to compromise on fit, style or support. We believe they deserve the same variety, trend-led designs and positive shopping experience as everyone else.”

Whether you’re hunting for the perfect beach club outfit for a girls’ trip or planning a relaxing spa staycation, supportive swimwear can make all the difference. In this guide for The Women’s Journal, I’ve rounded up the leading brands finally getting it right.

I’ve tried and tested bikinis and swimsuits from brands including Bravissimo, Curvy Kate, Pour Moi, JD Williams, Boux Avenue and more to find the styles I’d genuinely recommend for DD+ cup sizes. Whether you’re looking for an underwired bikini, a supportive swimsuit or a stylish fuller-bust option for your next holiday, these are my top picks to prove that swimwear for big boobs can combine fashion, comfort and serious support without forcing you to sacrifice your poolside aesthetic.

The Best Swimwear for Big Boobs I’ve Tried

After testing some of the most talked-about options on the market, these are the best swimwear styles for big boobs that genuinely impressed me for fit, support and style. From supportive bikinis to flattering swimsuits, these are the pieces I’d happily pack for my next holiday.

Bravissimo Crete Bikini in Dusky Rose Print

With over 30 years of industry expertise, Bravissimo is renowned for helping D+ cup sizes find styles they love. Designed by bra specialists, the lingerie giant focuses on engineering and structural support. As Swimwear Buyer Sophia Di-Marco tells us, “We know it’s often a shared experience for women who wear a D cup size and up that they can’t always wear the swimwear trends they love because the support isn’t there. That’s why we’re passionate about bringing women the swimwear styles they’re excited to pack in their suitcase and genuinely feel good in, because they’re made with their boobs in mind.”

Their stunning Crete bikini top and matching briefs prove this point perfectly. Featuring a pretty rose print with contrast embroidery, the bikini utilises hidden underwires and unpadded cups to deliver a natural, rounded shape. The soft material moulds flawlessly to your shape, making it ideal for sun-soaked adventures. I can vouch that it kept everything firmly in place, even during an action-packed day at the waterpark – with absolutely no spillage.

To guarantee the perfect fit, Sophia recommends taking advantage of their tailored styling services: “Not everyone knows that swimwear fittings are an option, but it’s such a fun part of holiday prep. Our Bravissimo fitting experts are available in our shops or via video call.”

Curvy Kate Holiday Check Non-Wired Swimsuit

It’s clear Curvy Kate completely understands the assignment. As Louisa Cronin, Head of Product, Design and Merchandising, said, “We know women want swimwear that makes them feel supported without looking overly functional… they want trend-led designs.” That is exactly why its best-selling check swimsuit delivers. Accommodating up to a size 40JJ, it’s an incredibly inclusive option for women with larger cup sizes.

The plunging triangle cups expertly secure the bust, proving that non-wired swimwear can still deliver phenomenal lift. Adjustable drawstring ties at the hips and neckline allow you to customise the fit, whether you prefer a retro high-leg look or a little more front coverage. It’s a game-changer for versatility, and when paired with denim shorts, it doubles as a bodysuit for a seamless beach-to-bar transition.

Size Range: 30DD-40JJ

Boux Avenue Ibiza Piped Plunge Bikini

High-street favourite Boux Avenue is leading the way for fuller-bust beachwear, and the Ibiza bikini top is proof. Designed with bra-sized cups and a structured underwire, it delivers impressive lift and reliable support. The plunge neckline elegantly highlights your natural cleavage without the need for padding, while the structured design keeps everything comfortably in place for beach days.

Designed for mix-and-match versatility, you can easily pair this bikini top with your choice of high-waisted, Brazilian or high-leg thong bottoms for a custom look. Style it with an oversized white shirt to achieve the ultimate cool girl summer aesthetic.

JD Williams MAGISCULPT Underwired Scallop Edge Bandeau Bikini

Finding a strapless option that offers support for a fuller bust can feel impossible, or even slightly risky, but the scallop edge bandeau bikini proves it can be done. Designed around a hidden underwire system, the top provides impressive, reliable lift without needing to rely entirely on shoulder straps. You can easily add the straps for a quick game of seaside tennis, or remove them for a sleek, strapless silhouette for sunbathing with minimal tan lines. Plus, the matching bottoms deliver a snatched yet comfortable shape for poolside pictures.

The secret to its success is all in the lining. As Evie Peake, Swimwear Buyer at JD Williams, says, “Strong fabrics and double-lined constructions can make a significant difference, with styles featuring powermesh lining, such as those in the Magisculpt range, offering extra security.” It’s the ultimate holiday staple if you want a sculpting, secure look without the tan lines.

Size Range: 34C-44H

JD Williams MAGISCULPT Underwired Bikini in Spot Print

If you are looking to inject this season’s biggest trends into your holiday wardrobe, this bikini top and matching spot print bottoms are an absolute must. Nailing this season’s love for rich chocolate-brown tones, this set elevates a classic shape with playful polka dots and sophisticated pearl detailing.

Beyond the pattern, it doesn’t skimp on structure. The top relies on thick, fully adjustable straps and a wide, supportive back band to lift the weight off your shoulders. As Peake explains, “Underwired styles are particularly effective, offering enhanced lift, a balanced shape, and greater comfort… a secure band is equally important, as the band does most of the work in supporting the bust, much like a bra.” Paired with the high-waisted bottoms, it delivers a smoothed, flattering fit that stays comfortable all day long, even after dipping in and out of the pool.

Fabletics Yitty Swim Twist Bikini in Bone Wild Cherries

If your summer holiday plans involve vibrant beach clubs, Yitty – co-founded by Lizzo in partnership with Fabletics – delivers the perfect collection, offering a modern Riviera-inspired feel. Catering to a wide range of body types and style preferences, this inclusive brand prioritises wearability. It uses stretchy fabric and flattering silhouettes to smooth and hold everything in place.

Paired with the matching ruched bottoms, the twist bikini top pulls off a cheekier cut. It delivers the kind of support you would usually expect from a fuller-coverage style. The secret to this impressive hold lies in the double-layered fabric that hugs the chest flawlessly. It creates a naturally rounded shape without any restrictive padding or rigid underwires. This design helps minimise those dreaded digging-in marks, while the ultra-soft fabric ensures all-day comfort so you can dance around confidently. If you love bold swimwear with a skimpier cut but still want reliable hold, this is a sexy yet practical option to pack for your next trip. The Fabletics size guide will help you find your size in this body-hugging favourite.

On a 20-year mission to empower women to feel confident in their own skin, Pour Moi ensures its designs fit and flatter a G cup just as beautifully as a B cup. Their commitment to body confidence is at the heart of the Designed For Me, Designed For Real Life campaign. The Acapulco bikini is one of her favourites from the collection, and it’s easy to see why.

“Designed For Me, Designed For Real Life is rooted in real women, real experiences and the belief that confidence isn’t something you lose, it’s something you build,” says Nicola Cosens, Chief Marketing Officer at Pour Moi. “At Pour Moi, that all starts with the right fit.”

This standout set pairs a striking black-and-white print with textured fabric for a timeless, retro-glam aesthetic. Featuring padded, underwired cups, the top delivers a serious lift, while the wide halterneck ties can be adjusted to personalise the coverage and create a flattering neckline.

The scoop leopard bikini is one of my favourites for a fuller bust, combining an eye-catching animal print with thoughtful tailoring. It’s made using their unique Peach Stretch™ recycled textile, which offers a second-skin feel both in and out of the water. The scoop neckline creates a flattering, everyday look, while the adjustable straps and secure fastening provide a supportive fit that stays comfortable from sunrise to sunset.

TOG24 Mina 2 Piece Bikini in Oxford Blue

Family-run British brand TOG24 knows exactly how to combine active performance with timeless style. If you want swimwear that’s designed to move, stays in place while you swim and still looks chic from beach to boat, this bikini set is a standout choice.

The Mina bikini offers style alongside reliable support. Cut from textured fabric, the wrap-front V-neck top features lightly padded cups, bust darts and an under-bust elastic band to lift and shape without digging in. The matching high-waisted briefs offer gentle tummy control, making this set an ideal alternative if you usually reach for a swimsuit.

As a 34E and a typical size 12, I found the fit spot on. Usually, the mention of a halterneck immediately makes me think of neck pain. However, thanks to the luxuriously thick straps, they don’t dig in at all. With the wide under-bust band doing most of the support, the neck ties are simply there to help you customise the fit. The fabric has just the right amount of stretch to hug your curves comfortably, creating an elegant, durable bikini set that’s made to move with you. As this comes as a set, I’d recommend checking the TOG24 size guide to help you find your perfect fit.

Size Range: 8-18 UK sizes
Best for: Active beach days

ASOS Design Fuller Bust Riley Resin Revenge Sculpting Swimsuit

Online retail giant ASOS stays ahead of seasonal trends with its ASOS DESIGN range. Offering dedicated collections for Curve, Tall, Petite and Fuller Bust, the brand makes fashion-forward style accessible to shoppers of all shapes and sizes at the click of a button.

A standout piece from the Fuller Bust collection is the Riley swimsuit. If you’re searching for a DD+ swimsuit that doesn’t sacrifice style, this eye-catching design fits the bill. Catering for cup sizes up to 36G, it delivers excellent coverage with a modern edge. Thick, supportive straps and a flattering square neckline create an elegant silhouette, while resin accents and subtle cut-out details add a seriously sexy finish to this swimwear staple.

Just bear in mind that this is more of a statement piece than a performance swimsuit. It’s ideal for beach clubs, lounging by the pool or relaxing on holiday, but may not be the best choice for more active days in the water.

Size Range: 30DD-36G
Best for: Statement style

What to Look for in Supportive Swimwear

Shopping for fuller-bust swimwear online can feel like guesswork and will most probably leave you with a pile of returns. However, once you know what structural elements to look for and what works for your body shape, navigating online collections should hopefully come a little easier.

As Louisa Cronin, Head of Product, Design and Merchandising at Curvy Kate, tells me: “The biggest difference you can make is choosing swimwear that’s available in bra sizing and starting with your correct bra size. A well-fitting bikini top should provide support from the band rather than relying entirely on the straps, while the cups should fully contain your breast tissue without digging in or gaping. Balcony and full-cup styles are often excellent choices for support and shaping, while plunge designs can offer a flattering neckline without compromising on fit when engineered specifically for fuller busts.”

If you’re unsure of your size or need extra support, we’d always recommend visiting brands that offer expert fittings, such as Bravissimo or Pour Moi, where specialists can help you find the right fit.

Four Non-Negotiable Features to Look for in Fuller Bust Swimwear

Hidden underwire and moulded cups: These are the unsung heroes for optimum support. They provide an instant, naturally rounded lift and keep everything firmly in place without bulky padding.

A thick, secure underband: Just like an everyday T-shirt bra, this is where almost all of your support comes from. Skip flimsy strings for a sturdy, thick band and a solid back clasp to evenly distribute pressure and prevent digging in.

Wide, adjustable straps: A complete game-changer for weight distribution. They sit flat and comfortably, meaning you can finally say goodbye to the sore neck caused by thin halterneck ties.

Clasp fastenings over tie-backs: Fabric ties easily stretch and sag the second they get wet. Solid plastic or metal clips ensure your bikini bands stays locked in place all day long.

Swimwear for big boobs isn’t just about adding more coverage. It’s about finding designs that understand what fuller busts need: support, comfort and style working together. After testing these leading brands on my travels this year, I can honestly say finding the right swimwear for my body has completely changed the way I feel on holiday. No more worrying about slipping straps, sore necks or wardrobe malfunctions – just confidence, comfort and enjoying the sunshine.

Swimwear for Big Boobs FAQs

What is the best swimwear for big boobs?

The best swimwear for big boobs offers the right balance of support, comfort and style. Look for bra-sized swimwear, underwired bikini tops, adjustable straps and supportive underbands. In this guide, Bravissimo, Curvy Kate, Pour Moi, JD Williams and Boux Avenue were among my top picks for DD+ busts.

What is the best bikini style for big boobs?

Underwired balcony, plunge and full-cup bikinis are often the best styles for bigger busts because they provide lift, support and a secure fit. Wide adjustable straps and supportive underbands also help distribute weight more evenly, making them comfortable enough to wear all day.

Which swimwear brands are best for DD+ cups?

Some of the best swimwear brands for DD+ cups include Bravissimo, Curvy Kate, Pour Moi, JD Williams, Boux Avenue, ASOS Fuller Bust and YITTY by Fabletics. Many of these brands offer bra-sized swimwear or dedicated fuller-bust collections, making it much easier to find the right fit.

Should I size up in swimwear if I have a bigger bust?

Not usually. Rather than sizing up, look for brands that offer bra-sized swimwear or dedicated fuller-bust sizing. Simply buying a larger size can leave the body of the swimsuit feeling too loose while still not providing enough support across the bust.

Are underwired bikinis better for big boobs?

Underwired bikinis often provide the best lift and support for bigger busts because they distribute weight more evenly and help create a secure fit. However, modern wireless styles featuring power mesh, moulded cups and wide underbands can also offer excellent support if you prefer a softer, more flexible fit.

Can you get supportive swimwear without underwire?

Yes. While underwired swimwear often provides the most lift, many wireless swimsuits and bikinis offer excellent support thanks to features such as power mesh lining, moulded cups, wide underbands and adjustable straps. These can be a great option if you prefer a softer feel without compromising on comfort.

What should I look for when buying swimwear for big boobs?

Look for bra-sized cups, adjustable straps, supportive underbands, secure back fastenings and high-quality fabrics. Features such as hidden underwires, moulded cups and power mesh lining can also make a significant difference to comfort and support, helping you feel confident whether you’re relaxing by the pool, heading to a beach club or swimming in the sea.
