Festival Makeup Trends 2026: Best Festival Makeup Looks to Try

Festival makeup trends for 2026 are leaving minimal beauty behind in favour of bold, expressive looks. Expect vibrant colours, graphic eyeliner, face gems, glitter and luminous skin to dominate this year’s festival season. Whether you prefer subtle sparkle or full-on maximalist glamour, the biggest festival makeup looks of 2026 are all about creativity, individuality and making a statement.

Makeup artist and beauty expert Will Grande, known online as @snatchedbywill, believes festival makeup in 2026 is ‘all about individuality, confidence and not being afraid to stand out’. He expects colourful eyeshadow, graphic liner, face gems, glitter details and glossy skin to be among the season’s biggest festival beauty trends.

“We’ll be seeing a lot more colourful eyeshadow, graphic liner, face gems, glitter details and glossy skin at festivals this year,” Will explains.

“Pastel shades like lilac, baby blue and pink are becoming really popular, especially paired with shimmer or rhinestones around the eyes. Festival makeup in 2026 feels very expressive and individual. There are less rules, and people are just doing what feels fun.”

All-Out Glitter & Sparkle

With the rise of bold colour, graphic detailing and self-expressive makeup looks, all-out glitter and sparkle are set to be one of the defining festival makeup trends of 2026. This season, festival-goers are fully embracing a more-is-more aesthetic, layering glitter, iridescent pigments, face gems and crystal embellishments across the face for a statement shimmer. These can be placed in creative and experimental ways, on the eyes, temples or across the cheekbones.

Inspired by statement beauty moments seen on artists such as Zara Larsson and on stages at major festivals (think Coachella), maximalist makeup is becoming a true festival staple. Shimmering lids, holographic highlights and strategically placed rhinestones catch the light from every angle. Embrace the trend by wearing it as a subtle accent or by making a full-glam statement. Whatever your look, glitter makeup will give you a camera-ready finish, showing off the playful energy of the 2026 festival season.

Golden-Hour Glow

Radiant and effortlessly summery, the golden-hour glow makeup look is all about fresh-looking skin with a luminous finish. This festival season, the trends are shifting towards long-lasting and breathable bases paired with plenty of bright tones for a sun-kissed effect. Let your natural texture show through, while enhancing your complexion with faux freckles as a finishing touch.

Blush is also central to this look, with searches for ‘babydoll blush’ rising by 122% since March. The trend focuses on softly diffused colour placed higher on the cheeks and blended towards the temples to create a lifted, youthful glow.

“What sets it apart is placement. Rather than focusing solely on the apples of the cheeks, blush is swept higher and blended towards the temples, creating a naturally lifted, almost doll-like effect. The finish should feel diffused and seamless, as though the colour is radiating from within the skin,” notes Carly Cochrane, Beauty Expert at Cosmetify.

Emma Simpson, Make-Up Artist at All Glowed Up, adds: “‘Sunburn blush’ is massive right now. Blush placed high across the cheeks and nose creates that fresh holiday-inspired look, with berry, peach and warm pink cream blushes proving especially popular.”

Elevated Minimalism

While statement looks continue to dominate festivals, there’s also a growing shift towards elevated minimalism. Despite the rise of bold festival beauty, natural-looking makeup remains hugely influential, with the hashtag #naturalmakeup generating more than 481,700 videos on TikTok. The trend reflects a growing preference for enhancing natural features rather than covering them.

Emma explains: “People are moving away from heavy matte foundation and towards lightweight skin tints, blurred glowing skin and makeup that still looks natural in daylight. Faux freckles, bronzed skin and glossy lips are still everywhere because they create that effortless festival look while still photographing beautifully.”

“This ‘elevated minimalism’ is rooted in enhancement, not transformation. Soft flush, glowing skin and light coverage let natural features do the talking, with a fresh, put-together finish. Its lasting appeal is in its wearability,” adds Carly.

“Lightweight skin tints even out the complexion without masking it, while strategic highlighting adds dimension and glow. Brushed-up brows and a touch of balm complete the look, striking a balance between simplicity and refinement that feels particularly relevant for festival dressing.”

Shimmering Metallic Accents

Metallic accents are a huge part of festival beauty in 2026, with rhinestones, chrome details and crystal embellishments adding sparkle to even the simplest of festival makeup looks. This trend is all about strategic placement, from inner-corner sparkle to scattered face gems across the cheekbones, or metallic detailing along the eyes for a futuristic finish.

Let yourself lean into creative expression, whether that’s through subtle glints of light or full crystal-studded designs. Pair with glowing skin for a festival-ready shimmer.

Rhinestone, Face Gem & Crystal Festival Makeup Trends

Rhinestone and gem makeup is emerging as a 2026 festival beauty trend, adding polished detail to all makeup looks.

The trend shows no signs of slowing down, with Pinterest searches for ‘gem makeup’ increasing by 170% and ‘face gems ideas’ rising by 145%.

Will notes that face gems are making a major comeback this festival season: “Face gems are also coming back in a big way especially around the eyes, temples and even across the cheeks. I think we’ll see a lot of soft pastel looks mixed with sparkle, glossy skin and bold blush.”

This year’s take feels more elevated, with strategically placed crystals and embellishments replacing the full-face sparkle looks of previous festival seasons.

Emma says: “The biggest trend overall is looking polished without looking overdone. Festival beauty now feels effortless, glowy and much more elevated.” Rather than heavy application, this season is all about precision, from single gems placed at the inner corners of the eyes to scattered accents along the cheekbones.

Inner-Corner & Brow Gems

One of the most wearable ways to tap into the rhinestone trend is through delicate placement at the inner corners of the eyes or lightly along the brow bone. This subtle detailing leans into elevated minimalism, drawing attention to the eyes. The gems catch the light to create a sultry festival glow.

Gem Constellations: Temples, Cheeks & Face Scattering

For a more creative take, try a makeup look with gem ‘constellations’. Recently popularised by artists including Zara Larsson, crystal embellishments are being worn in a more editorial way, with scattered gems replacing heavier, more traditional festival beauty looks.

Rhinestones can be scattered across the face, from the temples to the cheekbones and even along the outer edges of the eyes. The scattered placement creates a lifted effect that feels playful yet intentional, as though the face has been lightly dusted with sparkle.

Graphic Gem Liner

Graphic liner gets a festival-ready upgrade with the addition of rhinestones and gem detailing. Gems transform classic eyeliner into a bold statement with a futuristic edge. Trace the shape of a wing, accent a floating liner design or outline the eyes with light sparkle.

Colourful Festival Eye Makeup Ideas for 2026

As bold, colourful and statement makeup looks make a comeback this festival season, eye makeup is becoming a huge part of self-expression. Discover how to embrace bright pops of colour in your looks.

Floating & Graphic Eyeliner Looks

Floating liner and graphic eyeliner continue to dominate festival beauty trends. Bold and artistic shapes are becoming a go-to for expressive eye makeup.

Will predicts that graphic liner will remain one of the season’s biggest eye makeup trends. “Graphic liner in bright shades is also going to be really popular because it’s such an easy way to make a makeup look stand out at festivals.”

From double wings to abstract lines that sit above the crease, this look showcases playful placement and colour experimentation.

Searches for graphic eyeliner styles have risen as festival-goers move away from traditional flicks in favour of more creative and editorial-inspired designs. Bring in the colourful makeup trend by utilising those bright and high-impact shades.

Emma predicts graphic liner will continue to dominate festival beauty this year: “Graphic liner and floating eyeliner details are expected to trend heavily throughout festival season, alongside cool-toned silvers, grey shadows and frosted finishes inspired by early 2000s beauty.”

Mermaid Makeup Trend: Shimmer Eyeshadow

The mermaid makeup trend is making waves this festival season. Achieve this look through shimmering, iridescent eyeshadows that beautifully reflect the light. There are plenty of ways to pull this look together, from wet-look lids, pearlescent blues, seafoam greens and holographic lilacs blended for an underwater-inspired effect.

This trend ties into the wider rise of glossy beauty, with light, shimmery textures replacing heavy matte finishes for an ethereal festival finish.

Emma notes: “We’re seeing chrome lids, duo-chrome shimmer, glitter toppers and reflective eyes making a huge comeback. Smudged smoky liner and soft-focus shadows are replacing super structured cut creases.”

Neon Festival Makeup Trends

Neon festival makeup is one of the most eye-catching trends of 2026. With the return of bold colour and statement beauty looks, the neon trend nods to playful 80s-inspired makeup.

Interest in colourful eye makeup continues to grow with Pinterest searches for ‘green eyeshadow’ rising by 270% since January. Rather than the all-over bright looks of previous years, neon is being reimagined through precise pops of colour along the lash line, lids and inner corners for a more wearable take on the trend.

Fluorescent pinks, electric greens and high-voltage oranges are being used in many ways. Place colour across the eyes in graphic shapes, in washes or in inner-corner accents. Designed to stand out in both daylight and evening festival lighting, neon eye makeup delivers an electric finish.

Easy Festival Makeup Ideas Anyone Can Recreate

For low-effort but high-impact, try these easy festival makeup ideas. Striking looks don’t have to be overcomplicated, as these looks demonstrate.

For those who prefer a more wearable approach, Will recommends a soft, glowy makeup look with subtle festival-inspired details.

“I think a soft, glowy look with blush, freckles and gems is perfect for beginners because it’s easy to recreate but still looks really fun and festival inspired.”

Effortless ‘Slept-In’ Smoky Eye Festival Makeup

The ‘slept-in’ smoky eye taps into early 2000s beauty nostalgia, bringing a soft grunge edge back into festival makeup trends. Inspired by lived-in eyes, this look blends smudged liner and blurred shadows for an intentionally imperfect finish. It’s an easy smoky eye to recreate that still looks effortlessly on trend.

According to Emma, softer eye looks are replacing more structured styles this season. “Smudged smoky liner and soft-focus shadows are replacing super structured cut creases,” she says.

Bold Lip Festival Makeup Looks

Bold lips are all about adding a splash of colour to your look this festival season. Glossy finishes and softly blurred edges lead the trend. A bold lip will work perfectly with a more minimal makeup look. From statement reds to rich berry tones, this look is put together without too much effort.

Easy Face Gems Festival Makeup

Face gems remain a festival staple. They are an easy way to add statement detail with minimal effort. Will says: “A clean base with fresh skin, fluffy brows, blush across the cheeks and nose, and a few gems around the eyes can look so effective without being too difficult.”

To pull off the look, make sure placement is strategic. Add inner-corner accents or scattered cheekbone detailing. This trend is all about effortless sparkle and will elevate any simple makeup look.

Sweatproof Festival Makeup Tips

Beauty expert Carly shares her top sweat-proof festival makeup tips to help extend the longevity of your makeup looks this festival season, so you can stay looking on-trend from day to night.

Prepare and Prime

The first key step to any long-lasting look is preparing the skin. To make sure your makeup looks flawless on the skin all day and night, skincare is an unskippable step. Make sure to use SPF and a lightweight moisturiser on clean skin. Also, never skip primer, including eye primer for locking in those bold eye looks. This will give you a smooth base for the makeup to rest on.

Top tip: before moving on to the actual application, make sure to give it a few minutes between applying your skin prep. Otherwise, you may find that your foundation separates as the night wears on.

Long-Wear, Waterproof Staples

Summer festivals can be humid and dry, which may compromise the longevity of your normal makeup. For guaranteed lasting makeup, make sure to wear long-wear foundations, waterproof mascaras and transfer-proof lip products. These products will be able to handle everything from the warm weather to movement throughout the day.

An extra pro-tip from Carly is to lightly dust powder as you layer cream products for that long-wear look, without making it too cakey.

Build, Blend, Layer

To prevent creasing, separating or losing coverage throughout the day, make sure to take your time and apply everything in light layers. Set your makeup between layers for extra security. This keeps everything fresh and dewy for that perfect, camera-ready glow.

Lock It All In

Mist setting spray is a festival makeup essential. Set in between layers and give the finished look a generous spritz to help everything stay firmly in place.

The On-the-Go Touch-Up Kit

While you don’t want to bring your entire makeup bag with you, Carly recommends a few essential items: a mini powder, concealer, lip product and travel-sized setting spray. This way, you can refresh your look throughout the day so you’re feeling radiant until the very end.

For barely-there festival beauty that still looks trendy, try these minimal makeup looks.

Bronzed and Natural Glow Makeup Look

A festival classic with a 2026 update, the bronzed, natural glow is all about sun-kissed skin. Use warm tones for a lit-from-within finish. Enhance your features without looking overdone.

The focus is on healthy, glowing skin with a light touch of bronzer across the cheeks, temples and nose for that naturally sun-flushed effect. Finish the look with glossed lips and brushed-up brows. It’s a low-effort look that still feels on-trend for festival season.

Coloured Mascara Moment

Coloured mascara is having a serious revival for 2026. Swapping classic black for unexpected shades instantly lifts the eyes and adds a vibrant pop of colour.

Choose from electric blue, green or even shimmering tones to transform your look while keeping everything else minimal. It’s the easiest way to experiment with colour without committing to a full-on graphic eye. Perfect for festival days when you want something fun but effortless.

One-Product Eye Makeup Look

The one-product eye look is all about doing more with less. A single swipe of shimmer is all you need to create dimension and glow, with no complex blending required.

A great choice is the Urban Decay 24/7 Moondust Mono Eyeshadow, which delivers a sparkling finish in just one step. The shimmer catches the light beautifully, so you can create a soft wash across the lid or build up to a more intense, glittering festival eye.

How to Make Festival Makeup Last

Follow these three simple steps to lock in your look and extend the wear of your festival makeup all day long.

Start with a Smooth and Gripping Base

A long-lasting festival look always begins with skincare and base prep that helps makeup adhere for longer. Incorporating lightweight hydration and a gripping primer creates a smooth, even base that keeps future products in place.

Apply Thin Layers for Staying Power

Instead of heavy application, build your makeup gradually using light and even layers. This helps the products to blend seamlessly while reducing the possibility of your makeup creasing, sliding or breaking down in festival heat and movement.

Finish with Targeted Setting and Hold

Lock your look in place by setting key areas with light powder and finishing with a long-wear setting spray. Focus on high-movement zones, such as the T-zone, eyelids and undereyes, to help control shine and keep your makeup fresh all day (and night) long.

Festival Makeup FAQs

What is the biggest festival makeup trend for 2026?

The biggest festival makeup trends for 2026 focus on creativity, self-expression and individuality. Popular looks include face gems, rhinestone makeup, glitter eyeshadow, graphic eyeliner, colourful eye makeup and glossy skin. While bold festival makeup remains popular, there is also growing interest in more wearable trends such as ‘elevated minimalism’, which combines radiant skin, soft blush and subtle enhancements with statement details.

How do I make my festival makeup last all day?

To make festival makeup last all day, start with clean, hydrated skin and apply a gripping primer before makeup. Choose long-wear foundations, waterproof mascaras and transfer-resistant lip products. Applying makeup in thin layers and setting each stage lightly with powder can improve longevity. Finish with a setting spray to help lock everything in place and carry a few touch-up essentials for long festival days.

Are face gems still in style for festivals?

Yes, face gems remain one of the biggest festival makeup trends for 2026. However, the trend has evolved beyond full-face embellishment. This season, many festival-goers are opting for more strategic placement, using gems to highlight the inner corners of the eyes, cheekbones, temples and brows for a more polished and editorial-inspired look.

What makeup is best for hot weather festivals?

Lightweight, breathable makeup products work best in hot weather. Skin tints, lightweight foundations, cream blushes, waterproof mascara and long-wear lip products help create a fresh finish that can withstand heat and humidity. Setting spray and SPF are also essential for keeping makeup looking its best throughout the day.

How do you apply festival face gems?

Festival face gems are easiest to apply to clean, dry skin. Many face gems come with self-adhesive backing, while others may require cosmetic-grade adhesive. Popular placement areas include the cheekbones, temples, brow bone and inner corners of the eyes. For best results, apply face gems after completing your makeup and finish with setting spray around, rather than directly over, the gems.

What colours are trending for festival makeup in 2026?

Festival makeup colour trends for 2026 include pastel pinks, lilacs, baby blues, electric greens and vibrant neon shades. Metallic silver, holographic finishes and glossy berry tones are also popular. These colours can be incorporated through eyeshadow, eyeliner, lip products and face embellishments for a festival-ready look.

What is ‘elevated minimalism’ in makeup?

‘Elevated minimalism’ is a beauty trend that focuses on enhancing natural features rather than covering them. The look typically includes glowing skin, lightweight complexion products, brushed-up brows, soft blush and subtle highlights. It’s a popular choice for festival-goers who want a polished, effortless appearance while still embracing current beauty trends.

What products should I pack in a festival makeup bag?

A well-stocked festival makeup bag should include SPF, primer, concealer, lip balm, a long-wear lip product, blotting papers, a travel-sized setting spray and a compact powder for touch-ups. Face gems, glitter products and a colourful eyeliner can also help transform your look from day to night without carrying a full makeup kit.
